South African Motorcycle Tours operate one and two week tours based from Cape Town. We offer three catagories of tour: a) accompanied by a minibus; b) accompanied by a guide on a motorcycle; c) un-accompanied tour; d) daily motorcycle hire. Our watchword is quality and only late model 650, 800, 1150 and 1200 cc BMW motorcycles are used, hotels (with swimming pools) are either two or three star. Multilingual guides are available and visits to game reserves, ostrich farms, wineries with wine tasting and world famous caves are incorporated. We do not rush you, rest days for your own exploring are included.

One, two, seven day, eleven day, twelve day and 15 day tours from Cape Town can be arranged with or without a guide on a bike. While we recommend particularly scenic and interesting destinations for these tours, you are entirely at liberty to request your own routes. These shorter trips are particularly attractive to people on holiday in Cape Town who do not wish to spend their entire time on a motorcycle.

In designing our tours the philosophy has been to create a tour which will equally appeal to motorcyclists who want to explore, have contact with and travel through a new country and those whose need is to concentrate on driving a motorcycle in a different environment. We would like to think that your interests are equally the countryside and civilisation around you and the challenge of driving. With this in mind our tours are routed over numerous challenging mountain passes and have ample opportunity for contact with South Africans of all races. Our average aged motorcyclist is 42, is a professional and 60% bring a partner.

You will have come a long way and spent considerable money to join the tour and being very aware of this we have built in the opportunity to see the country from many different angles and assigned days especially for you to discover that which particularly interests you - free days. You can watch wild life in nature reserves, swim and surf in the Indian Ocean, go caving, visit ostrich and crocodile farms, dine in exquisite French restaurants, ascend table Mountain by cable car, strole through original African villages and sample some of the Cape's finest wines. It is our hope that your delight in motorcycling will be a tool for you to explore and understand a part of this vast and thrilling continent.

If your interests are primary off road riding, camping, flat out travel for 8 hours a day, all male company and partying to 2am every morning, you will find other operators who better cater for your tastes. If, on the other hand you want challenging riding over huge distances, to finish 11 days in the saddle without feeling sore, decent hotels each night, lively mixed company and return with a better knowledge of South Africa, then our tours are for you.
